House of Alpha

A cultural foundation working at the intersection of art, music, memory, and community.

Foundation

House of Alpha is carried by the Arsheed family, continuing the legacy of AlphaArt through new artistic forms. We are artists, musicians, educators, and storytellers united by a shared history and a common purpose.

Our work takes two forms: the House of Alpha Foundation, a non-profit dedicated to cultural programming, community engagement, and art education, registered in Amsterdam; and House of Alpha Studio in Italy, our creative and production arm where exhibitions, recordings, and collaborations come to life.

Our Story

In 2005, Saeed Arsheed and Hanaa Arslan opened AlphaArt in Swaida, Syria. More than a gallery, it was a living space for ideas, for artists, for the community. Over six years, it hosted more than 70 exhibitions and 100 events covering music, poetry, storytelling, film, and debate.

In 2011, with the outbreak of the Syrian war, AlphaArt was destroyed. It had become a symbol of freedom of expression, and a target. The destruction marked the end of something irreplaceable. It also marked the beginning of a long journey: from Syria to Lebanon, and eventually to Europe.

AlphaArt never left us. It traveled with us: in our memories, in the paintings we eventually recovered, in the music we made from them. House of Alpha is what AlphaArt became: a foundation, a studio, a dream rebuilt somewhere else and carrying the same name.

The Founder

Saeed Arsheed founded AlphaArt in Swaida in 2005, alongside his wife Hanaa Arslan. Together they built a cultural space that brought together artists, thinkers, and community members from across the region.

His vision was simple and radical: art belongs to everyone, and culture is the foundation of a dignified life. AlphaArt reflected his spirit: generous, curious, deeply rooted in the land of Swaida. Today, his children continue that work through House of Alpha. His legacy lives on in every exhibition, every workshop, every note of music.

The Space

Our long-term vision is to rebuild a cultural presence in Swaida: a place for art, music, and education, for children, for young artists, for the community. Rooted in the spirit of AlphaArt, and shaped for a new generation.

It is not yet built. But it is already alive in everything we do: in every exhibition, every workshop, every note played. If you would like to support it or be part of it, we would love to hear from you.
